This Home Ignition Zone Scorecard is what we use to help determine the ignition risk of an individual structure. These are many of the major components that can help determine how likely it is that a home could ignite if there is a nearby wildfire, and whether the structure itself would be accessible by fire response personnel.
Keep in mind that some of the variables on this scorecard are meant to be general considerations. The specific score that a home gets from completing this scorecard does not guarantee a home’s safety; it is meant to help homeowners have a sense of where to focus their efforts to reduce wildfire risks.
HWMO recommends printing out this scorecard, walking around your home, and rating your property based on these characteristics.
