May is here which means Wildfire Preparedness Month has begun!
To kick things off, Pablo Beimler, HWMO Community Outreach Coordinator, had the pleasure of speaking to a couple dozen members of the Waikoloa Community Church on Sunday, May 1st. Pastor Greg and HWMO Fundraising Committee member, Mark Gordon, invited Pablo to speak in order to share the importance of preparing for wildfires, especially this year. The drought Hawaii is currently in is expected to worsen through the summer, meaning wildfire risk is on the incline. Pablo distributed a number of Ready, Set, Go! Guides and Wildfire & Drought Look Out! flyers to give attendees the tools they need to get started on their home wildfire preparedness.
